1. What is Landcare?
Landcare, born in Victoria in 1986, is a highly successful community-based volunteer movement that facilitates and coordinates actions to care for our environment. Landcare is about a simple idea; people organising to come together to discuss shared land management issues, and to design and implement practical solutions to take action to address these issues. 2. Victorian Landcare Program
The Victorian Landcare Program is the title of the program of support provided to Landcare by the Government and managed by DEPI. The Government recognises that supporting Landcare is a valuable investment in Victoria's future, and it is committed to continuing this support. The Victorian Landcare Program includes the delivery of services and initiatives to support Landcare, and that enable groups and networks to be more effective. 3. Victorian Landcare Gateway
The Victorian Landcare Gateway is the central point of contact for Landcare in Victoria. It is an interactive and informative website where you can find news from Landcare groups and networks, including up-coming volunteer activities and events, resources and toolkits for groups, information on grants and projects, as well as group and network contacts. The Victorian Landcare Program provides support for the maintenance and on-going development of the Victorian Landcare Gateway.
4. Contact Landcare
There are more than 630 Landcare groups and 67 networks in Victoria. To locate or find the contacts for a Landcare group or network near you go to the Victorian Landcare Gateway. From the Gateway's homepage navigate to "Region" (choose your Catchment Management Authority region) and then navigate to "Groups" where a listing of all the groups in your region will be found. Alternatively, for contacts for a local group or network contact your Regional Landcare Coordinator.
