DELWP invests in the conservation and recovery of threatened species in a number of ways.
This includes the preparation of action statements that outline research and actions to help threatened species or ecological communities (such as woodlands, grasslands, forests or wetlands) or mitigate potentially threatening processes.
Action statements are a requirement under the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act 1988.
The Action Statement Three Year Implementation Plan outlines a more streamlined and effective approach to releasing Action statements.
For more information about action statements and the Implementation Plan, view the Action Statement fact sheet.
DELWP has also developed the Actions for Biodiversity Conservation (ABC) system where the actions in action statements are stored, responsibility for undertaking actions are recorded and priorities for action are set.
This system also allows DELWP to monitor the implementation of action statements and assist in their periodic revision.
