Dog and cat registration
Pet registration is a legal requirement under the Domestic Animals Act 1994. You can be fined for not complying. Every dog and cat three months of age and over must be registered with your local council. Existing registrations must be renewed by 10 April each year.
To register your cat or dog, you need to contact your local council. Most councils have instructions on their website about how to register a dog or cat, alternatively you can call their customer service line and they will instruct you on how to go about registering your pet.
